Her Secret Prince
by Madeline Ash

Genre: Contemporary Romance

At sixteen, Dee Johnson gambled her heart on her best friend Jed Brown – and lost when he disappeared without a trace.
Ten years on, Dee’s life is uprooted when Jed turns up on her doorstep, asking for her help.
Dee has been left behind by everyone she’s loved: her parents, her close friend Alexia, and a stream of lovers. She moves fast with men and suspects this is why they move on fast. Now that’s Jed’s back in her life, she’s taking no chances. Despite the attraction ripping at her seams, she holds back, knowing she wouldn’t recover from being loved and left by him a second time.
A constant traveler, Jed has only felt at home once in his life – with Dee. Now that he’s found her again, he’s determined to make up for lost time. He’ll never leave her again.

Fun facts for Her Secret Prince | Madeline Ash

  1. The working title for this book was Surprise, You’re a Prince! right until I typed The End. As you can tell, I don’t take my working titles very seriously…
  2. The heroine’s name is Dee Johnson. She strives for anonymity online, so her social media accounts are all under the pseudonym Dijon Son because it sounds the same.
  3. The hero, Jed, is a comic artist. He has a twist planned for his work-in-progress. It’s not revealed in the book (Dee hates spoilers, so stops him right there), but I know what it is and wish I could draw well so I could do it myself.
  4. As a child, my favourite royal fairytale was The Princess and the Pea.
  5. If I put all the characters I’d ever written together in a room, Dee would be the one most likely to draw everyone together.
  6. When asked to write a royal romance, I quickly took to the idea of neither character knowing about Jed’s true lineage. I call it a ‘regular to riches’ story – two normal people whose lives are turned upside down by the revelation.
  7. The royal family name is Montaigne. I chose this with the French philosopher Michel de Montaigne in mind, who found his own judgement the most reliable way to examine the world. I felt this honest approach fitting for a royal family.
  8. Dee is an unashamed hipster. I just love the idea of a hipster princess!
  9. I consumed many cups of tea and chocolate teddy bear biscuits while writing this book.
  10. The royal castle is (naturally) based on Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany.
  11. Dee débuted in THE PLAYBOY, as the supportive yet blunt best friend. She got all the best lines. As I battled to stop her taking over the story, I decided she needed her own. She piped down after that.
  12. Although Dee loves coffee to the point of addiction, I’ve never had a cup in my life and don’t understand what she’s on about!
  13. I love reunion stories. HER SECRET PRINCE is book two in a four book series, all based around best friends and the reunion trope.

Playlist for Her Secret Prince | Madeline Ash

I often write with music playing, as it influences my mood and consequently the tone of the scene. Because of this, it’s important to play the right tunes – I remember struggling to get a fun and flirty scene right a few months ago, before I realised Sigur Ros was dampening the dialogue!

While writing HER SECRET PRINCE, I used music to delve beyond Dee’s vivacious persona and reveal her vulnerabilities. Sometimes I can’t concentrate if the lyrics are too distracting, so some of these are just mood enhancers, but these were the most popular songs on my playlist:

What He Wrote – Laura Marling

Fortune’s Fool – Hiatus

I Thought You Were God – Clare Bowditch

Between Friends – Japanese Wallpaper

Sand – Keaton Henson

Garden – Hiatus

The Architekt – Arms and Sleepers

Wasting My Young Years – London Grammar

Only Love Can Hurt Like This – Paloma Faith

You’ve Got The Love – Florence and the Machine

Bloodstream – Stateless

Thank you for letting me share my playlist with you today!

Review of:  Her Secret Prince

Dee and Jed’s unique love story will have you reading at your lunch hour or skipping the meal altogether to find out what is going to happen.  I really enjoyed this story even though you are thrown for a loop by the unexpected twist.

This story shows a sad side of the intricate web weaved to pull love together. You find yourself on the edge of your seat waiting for love to find its way. This is definitely a page turner.

Her new employer, HRH Prince Ronan, aka her mystery summer lover of long ago, seems determined to pick up where they left off.  Review of:  His Defiant Princess

This modern day fairy tale even includes everything, even the social media. A country struggles to hold on to what they hold dear. Brenna and Ronan’s story comes together and has it’s happily ever after.

This read definitely holds your interest, but waiting until the end for Ronan to decide drove me nuts. Okay, in a good way.  I am looking forward to finding out if those were hints dropped for a next installment.

His Forbidden Princess
by Jeannie Moon
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Eight years ago, university student Ian Stuart fell in love with his sweet, beautiful classmate and he’s never forgotten her. Sofie loved Ian with all her heart in return, but she didn’t trust him with one little detail about her life she’d neglected to share.
She was a princess, and they could never be together in the outside world.
Now Crown Princess Sofia is in danger. An insurgent faction in her country has targeted the royal family, and while Sofia is visiting the United States, she is forced to go into hiding. Assigned to protect her is none other than FBI Special Agent Ian Stuart.

Once again Ian and Sofie are in an impossible situation, fighting their feelings for one another, while trying to stay safe. Will their love for each other prove to be the most dangerous game of all?

Fun Facts His Forbidden Princess by Jeannie Moon

  1. Shelter Island is a real place between the north and south forks of Long Island and you can only get there by ferry or private boat.
  1. The fictional country of Aubonne, where Sofia is from, is an amalgamation of Lichtenstein, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
  1. The high-end department store Sofie was visiting when she was put into protective custody was Saks Fifth Avenue.
  1. Sofie speaks four languages. Her primary language is Italian, but she also speaks German, French and English.
  1. Ian has degrees in political science and international relations from Columbia, Cambridge and Harvard. Still waters run deep.
  1. Sofie’s new favorite treat, the Twinkie, does not have a thirty year shelf life as Ian said. That’s a myth. Twinkies are only good for about 25 days.
  1. Originally, Sofie was going to be blonde, but I kept referring to her as a brunette, so she ended up with long brown hair.
  1. Long Island is 118 miles long and 23 miles wide at its most distant points.
  1. The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City is the home away from home for many visiting dignitaries and heads of state. The presidential suite is equipped with bulletproof glass.
  1. Hurricanes and tropical storms do hit Long Island, but usually not in June when the story was set. As a rule, the island sees tropical storms later in the summer and into early fall when the water is warmer.

Review of:  His Forbidden Princess

Duty and obligations tore Ian and Sofia apart. Now, the same reasons might just pull them back into each other’s life again.

The main characters become stronger throughout the book because of things they have overcome and pushed their way through over the years apart.  There are a lot of feels in this one.

Madeline has always lived in Melbourne. She is emotionally allergic to spontaneity, and yet doesn’t mind the weather that drags her into rain when she’s planned for sunshine. She likes to call this her wild side.
She’s a Virgo, vegetarian, and once had a romantic suspense-style dream in which the hero was a shredded lettuce sandwich and the villain was a cherry tomato. The tomato got away. She took the dream as a sign that she’d better stick to writing contemporary romance.
Her stories have spunky heroines, strong heroes, and as much dialogue as she can cram in. As for why she writes romance, she’s in a long-term relationship with the genre and writing such stories makes it happy.

Series: Hawker Incorporated, #1
Genre: Action/Adventure, Suspense, Romantic Elements
Release Date: December 18, 2014

Repossessed is the Winner of the 2013 Daphne du Maurier Mainstream Mystery/Suspense Award and the 2013 Maggie Award for Novel with Strong Romantic Elements written by Sandy Parks.

A reclusive boss.

An unemployed pilot.

One devil in default.

When Brazilian gem dealer Maximilian Furst stops making payments on his fifty million dollar business jet, “Hawker” Dunlop, reclusive owner of a high-end recovery company, sends a resourceful team to Rio to repossess the aircraft.

Dunlop’s newest hire, ex-military pilot Amelia “Jet” Walczynski, has the perfect skills for infiltrating Furst’s inner circle and flying away the targeted plane. The assignment appears straightforward until Jet discovers Furst is a sociopath and knows she is after his aircraft. Her promised support team, a Greek lawyer avenging his brother’s death, a con man who sidelines as their scout, and a mechanic who paints her nails to match the country of operation, appear a hindrance rather than help. Jet finds it hard to play nice with her teammates when their private agendas put her life at risk. Yet, the closer she gets to Furst and the plane, the more she and her team will have to rely on each other to complete the repossession.

Santos Dumont Airport

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Gnawing apprehension spread through Jet as Maximilian Furst climbed up from the dark night onto his business plane and cast her a triumphant look. Behind him the door closed and the steward flipped the locking handle, securing the aircraft and effectively cutting off rescue if her true purpose were to be discovered.

The cushy leather seat beneath her offered little comfort. Minutes before coming onboard, she’d learned Furst had left a disloyal employee floating face down in a local lake. She drew a calming breath through a fake smile. Had she overestimated her ability to manipulate a powerful man—one who was proving far more dangerous and unpredictable than her boss portrayed?

Looking back, getting onto the Gulfstream 550 had been easy—maybe a bit too easy. Whatever the case, she had to keep a step ahead of Furst if she hoped to find the aircraft’s landing site.

He leaned over her leather chair, using his rock-solid body as unspoken intimidation. Without a word, he picked up the ends to her seat belt and buckled her in. Her heartbeat didn’t slow until the plane had taken off from the domestic airport and risen out of the haze into a clear night.

Jet controlled her fear by focusing on the sleek cabin. She related more to machines, particularly those with wings, than men.

“You have an impressive aircraft,” she said, with the proper amount of awe to feed Furst’s overblown ego. She could recite checklists and emergency boldface items for the fifty-million-dollar beauty that surrounded her, but she had to be careful not to reveal her flying expertise. “Will I be as impressed with your home?” Or wherever the plane might land and “magically” disappear.

Maximilian shifted in his seat to face her and tented his long, dark fingers. “After the excess of my party, you will like the peaceful place we are going.”

“Peaceful? I see you more as the type who never rests.” She pointed at a well-developed bicep on his arm, making sure not to touch or even hint at coming close enough to doing so. “Those don’t come from lounging around.”

“Senhorita, you flatter me. What is a strong body without a fit mind? My sanctuary awaits. It cleanses the body and soul of troubles.”

“I find it hard to believe you have many troubles.”

“A man without them has never been tested. Take this plane, for instance. The company and I have a financial disagreement to resolve. My legal sources have informed me impatient Americans have arrived to take it back. They are supposedly in Rio at this very moment.”

Perceptive sources. She held back the gulp striving to launch down her throat.

Maximilian, his spicy cologne still potent after the long night, leaned forward and encouraged her to do the same. She worked out of her seat belt and rather reluctantly moved closer.

With her head near, he softly added, “You, Senhorita de verão, are an American. I believe you have come to steal my plane.”

Veronica(Fragrant Courtesans Book one) by Siobhan Diako

“So sweet and delicious do I become, when I am in bed with a man who, I sense, loves and enjoys me, that the pleasure I bring exceeds all delight, so the knot of love, however tight it seemed before, is tied tighter still.”

Married at sixteen to an abusive husband, feisty Veronica Franco escapes his cruelty by taking the only option open to her. Soon, she’s feted as one of the most beautiful and sought-after courtesans in 16th Century Venice.
A talented seductress, she’s able to create desire in her patrons under her own terms, giving them her body but not her heart. She courts the cultural élite for fame and fortune, publishing her poems and letters, while battling tomaintain a balance between her sense of self-worth and the need to win and keep the support of men.
But when disaster strikes, and her life begins to unravel, will she be strong enough to hold her own in a man’s world?
***Advisory: sensuously erotic, this novella contains frequent scenes of explicit sex, sexual language, and the imaginative use of Murano glass.***

Genre: Romantic erotica/historical erotica

My eyes practically fall out of my head when Mamma reaches under the cushion and pulls out a loaf of bread shaped like a prick. ‘Lesson number one. You’ll need to take this into your mouth, all the way down to the back of your throat, without making any marks with your teeth. But first I must teach you how to touch a man so that his member swells to this size.’
‘You mean it isn’t always as big?’ I think of the bulging codpieces that poke out from between men’s legs.
‘Sometimes it’s as small as a mushroom. You’ll be surprised how quickly it can grow when you stroke it. Your movements should be slow and subtle. Don’t touch it straight away. Gently rest your hand on your patron’s leg, then brush your fingers on his cheek. Let your shawl slip down so that he can see your breasts. All these things you can do after you’ve entertained him.’
‘Entertained him?’
‘Most definitely. You’ll be an honoured courtesan. Highly sought after. There are only just over a hundred among the thousands of whores in Venice.’
‘So many?’
Mamma ignores my question. ‘When you are entertaining your patron by singing, playing the lute or spinet, or with witty conversation, you must flirt with him, entice him into your bed.’
‘Why do I have to take him in my mouth? I thought my figa was made for a man’s prick, not my mouth.’
‘All part of the seduction, cara. Men will stick their pricks in all our orifices, including our back passage. If you are really fortunate your patron might seek to give you pleasure too, by sucking your figa. Never, ever, ask him to do it, though. The initiative must come from him. There are men who enjoy the taste and smell of us.’ Apples and Musk. Of course.
