Variables of Love
by MK Schiller
Meena Kapoor knows what life has in store for her. She’s in her senior year at Stanford where she’ll graduate summa cum laude, and then she’ll begin her interviews…her marriage interviews. Meena is Indian, and she’s never questioned that she’ll have an arranged marriage like all the generations before her. Not until she meets gorgeous math major Ethan Callahan. Ethan’s sense of humor and free spirit stir feelings in Meena she didn’t know were possible outside of Bollywood movies. It doesn’t hurt that he’s charming and has the uncanny ability to make math sound like poetry, but Meena knows their equation makes no sense in the real world.
Ethan finds himself intrigued by the mysterious, beautiful girl, whose big, brown eyes reflect great pain. His goals are small at first—to make her smile and then to laugh. But he soon wants more, and though Meena is adamant they have no future, he convinces her to share the present. Ethan believes every problem has a solution, but with cultural expectations and family duty among the variables, they will struggle to solve the ultimate equation to find happiness.

I enjoyed this story with the information on different backgrounds. It’s a good read for something looking for a boy meets girl romance. The title is also a great fit for this story.
Meena believes in arranged marriages. Even after meeting Ethan she denies her feeling for him. Ethan is sweet and I found myself starting to not like Meena for the first half of the book. There was also the rambling math, that after a while, seemed to bog the story down. However, I am a sucker for smarties. Also, I can’t deny that I have a soft spot for a love that can work through and overcome obstacles that arise from different cultural and religious backgrounds.
By the end you have in your hands, a great feel good read. There are parts that make you smile and you may just get a little teary at some point.

She Needs a Hero…
Abby Thompson didn’t sign up to be the daughter of the President of the United States. The position was forced on her by the small matter of her birth. Preferring a quiet life of study, she’s content to leave the politics and the international intrigue to her father. Unfortunately, the most powerful man on the planet is sure to make enemies. When a group of armed thugs takes her hostage half a world away, demanding the U.S. government release prisoners in exchange for her safe return, she fears her father’s policy of “not negotiating with terrorists” means she’ll never see the shores of the Potomac again. Luckily, there’s one glimmer of hope. His name is Carlos Soto. And though she abruptly ended things with him years ago, she knows now he’s the only man who can save her…
Black Knights, Inc. to the Rescue…
Carlos “Steady” Soto has taken part in his fair share of dangerous missions working at the covert government defense firm of Black Knights Inc. But nothing prepared him for the emotional rollercoaster he faces when he’s tasked with rescuing the only woman he ever loved-who also broke his heart. Racing against time and outmaneuvering a group of trained terrorists will take everything he’s got. Plus there’s the heat simmering between them which is threatening to ignite into an inferno. While ruthless enemies stalk them, they must learn to trust each other again. Even if they do make it out alive, will Abby turn her back on him… for the second time?
So far, so good…
The hum of the Ducati was reassuring, as was Abby’s tightened grip around Steady’s waist. They were riding down the devil’s own washed–out, rutted, rock–filled hell of a rubber tree logging road, and for the first ten minutes of the harrowing journey, while she’d still been suffering the lingering effects of the sedative, it was just as difficult to keep her on the bike as it was to navigate the frackin’ jungle track.
But now they were clipping along at a steady, if decidedly slow, pace. No JI goons could be seen in his rearview mirrors—-though it was hard to tell exactly, given the fact that the forest encroached from both sides and above. And if his calculations were correct, a half hour or so more should see them entering the lovely kingdom of Thailand.
See, he wished he could call and tell Dan, sometimes it’s better to Lone Wolf McQuade things…
Abby squirmed against his back, interrupting his thoughts and alerting him to the feel of her supple thighs pressed against the outsides of his hips and legs. Which, in turn, immediately focused his attention on her soft breasts—-and distended nipples?—-grazing his back.
Okay, so who was he kidding? Like he hadn’t been keenly aware of each of those things since the first moment. Even while worming his way through the dense undergrowth of ferns and vines after escaping the encampment and hiking back to the Ducati, he’d been hard–pressed to concentrate on anything other than the feel of Abby squeezed all nice and tight against him. Abby’s soft skin touching his. Abby’s sweet smell—-even sweaty and bedraggled, she still emanated a soft cloud of dryer sheets and cocoa butter lotion—-filling his nose and making his head spin.

4 out of 5 stars
Abby Thompson was pulled into a life of politics. Whether by choice or not, being the daughter of the President means you take precautions or you are left vulnerable. Sometimes even then, it’s not enough.
Across the globe, Abby finds herself taken hostage. Staying strong and holding onto hope of being rescued is even harder for the strongest of people when you know your father has a “no negotiating” policy when it comes to terrorists. However, she has one thing or rather someone that most hostages don’t have the luck of having on their side. Carlos Soto promised he would always be there when she needed him.
With time and resources being limited they make a run for it to get out alive. Get it, get out, and get the girl home safe is what Carlos planned on doing. What he didn’t plan was for the sparks between them to set his body into overdrive. Will the new found passion get in the way of keeping her safe? Will Carlos be able to forgive Abby for the thing she has been keeping from him these past years?
I love the idea of the series using a motorcycle shop as a cover for the elite ex-military team. In the beginning, it felt a little slow going but it picked up and the story came to life. I’m looking forward to checking out the rest of the series and I will definitely be checking out other reads by Julie Ann Walker.

Review by Dana Marie
I have to say this book was not only sexy, it was refreshing. This fun erotic read has a fast pace that keeps your attention from page one. I couldn’t imagine a better way to pull off keeping that sizzle in a marriage after twenty years.
The characters are easy to grasp your head around and enjoy. Dean is a man that has the heart of a captain that needs to take control. However, he also has a ravenous pirate soul that has a need to claim his booty. His wife, Jillian, is more than willing to play. The only question is, how long will it take for her to let herself be claimed by her rogue pirate. After all, it is one of her fantasies.
The story has a little bit of everything. The fact that it was about an older married couple willing to plan out and role play made it refreshing. It was enticing and sensual without being overly intense. I’ll definitely be checking out more stories by Ericka Wilde. Loved it!
About 24 strawberries, stems and leaves attached
2 ounces dark chocolate
2 ounces milk chocolate
2 ounces white chocolate
extra dark and white chocolate for drizzling
Gently rinse and pat dry strawberries. Place on a cookie sheet lined with paper towels.
Draw a little Amaretto into a syringe. (You can get one at a pharmacy)
Gently insert the plastic tip of the syringe into the underside of the strawberry, slowly depressing the stopper to inject the Amaretto. Watch carefully – you will see the strawberry puff up as the liquor fills it. Pat dry any excess Amaretto and place on a cookie sheet lined with paper towels.
Using a microwave safe container, and working with one dish at a time, place chocolate in microwave at medium power for 1- 1 1/2 minutes.
Remove and stir. If not melted, return to microwave and repeat heating step, stirring every 30 seconds, as scorching can occur. When small lumps remain, remove and continue to stir to complete melting.
Carefully hold a strawberry by the stem and dip/swirl the berry in the chocolate.
Place on cookie sheet lined with wax paper.
Repeat until all strawberries have been dipped.
Place cookie sheet in refrigerator until chocolate is set.
Serve with whatever your heart desires.

Have you had a chance to check out Crimson Desires? We have!
This collection is full of sweet, sexy, and erotic. There are ten books and each different giving a little something for everyone in this mix. A book full of vampires and their cravings, how could it not be good?
One Night with a Vampire by Rozlyn Sparks is sweet with a side of sexy. Connor is a vampire who meets a woman full of self-doubt. Daphne is Connor’s last job and he is free, no longer a slave to his punishment. When the tables turn on him, what will he do?
Blood Purple by Ashley Nemer has a great story under all the glossary terms, characters, and events. It took a little more effort to follow along, but I wasn’t lost to the world Ashley has created.
The Rose Chronicles by Julieanne Lynch has a touch of dark that pulls and pushes your imagination. It has that old fashioned appeal of vampires with their blood lust and desires.
Along Came a Killer by Dicey Grenor is about a vampire gone hired hit-man. This read has a touch of funny and dark.
Halloween Fantasies by Rozlyn Sparks takes the ordinary steamy read and makes it twice as nice. Twins, you got to love that.
Crimson Addiction by Emily Walker was a quick read that leaves you wanting more. One night is never enough.
Bitten by M. Black pulls you into a world of vampires who have money, easy on the eyes, and blood on their minds. Watch out with this one, you get left hanging on that cliff at the end. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
For the Love of Renata by Lissette E. Manning is a passionate and erotic read. This love triangle will leave you wondering what happens next on their journey.
Goodnight Sam by Inger Iversen is heartfelt journey of the decisions and conflicts of two vampires that have moving through time since the eighteenth century. Warning, this may pull at your heart strings a little.
Indigo by Willsin Rowe has its place as the ending read in the anthology. It may have been last, but definitely should not be considered the least in any way. When you are a vampire, can you give everything to someone who fills the void of your inhuman existence, or will love just die in the wake.
